About the Virginia is for Lovers 14k and 1.4 Miler
The Virginia is for Lovers 14k and 1.4 Miler event made its debut in Virginia Beach, Virginia on February 14-Valentine's Day-2009. For the first two years of the event, the races began and ended on the grounds of the Verizon Wireless Virginia Beach Amphitheater, now named Farm Bureau Live, and the course runs right through the entertainment venue. In 2011, the start for each race was shifted to the nearby Virginia Beach Sportsplex, and for the first time the finish for both the 14k and 1.4 Miler was on the indoor turf of the Virginia Beach Field House, adjacent to the Sportsplex. For each of its first three years of existence, the 14k has featured individual, couples, and relay categories, and along the course participants are greeted by love-inspired quotes, special messages in Lover's Lane, and a tasty treat at Candy Curve. Ladies who finish the 14k are handed a flower by a local firefighter, and all finishers receive a unique medal. The post race party inside the Virginia Beach Field House features live music, delicious burritos from Moe's Southwest Grill, and plenty of Yuengling beer. The Virginia is for Lovers 14k and 1.4 Miler is the perfect way to spend Valentine's Weekend with someone special in your life!
